TCHS Monty Lewis Mosaics Exhibit
On display now
To celebrate the September 2019 opening of the new Trenton Central High School, on display are photos of the interior of the school and information about the four Monty Lewis (1907-1977) mosaics known as “Youth Carrying the Heritage of the Past into the Future.” Stop by the display on our second floor and learn about the artist who Principal Spencer requested to complete the work under the Works Progress Administration. This exhibit marks the end of an ongoing Ellarslie exhibit following the tearing down of the old TCHS and the building of the new.
Shown with the display are Trenton Museum Society trustees Patricia Allen and Karl Flesch as they read about the historically significant Monty Lewis tile mosaics, which were among the original fixtures and artifacts saved from the earlier high school building and incorporated into the new structure.
